Is the Fair Sports Commission an anti-fair or unfair committee?
Mr. Ki-heung Lee, the President of Korean Sport and Olympic Committee (KSOC) should apologize for his self-deliberation and resign immediately
The Fair Sports Commission (FSC) should now be called an anti-fair or unfair committee. President Ki-heung Lee appointed his special assistant as the chairman of FSC and did the remaining members himself. On November 12th, the FSC faithfully performed its role as President Lee’s puppet as expected. It deserves to be criticized as a ‘self-reappointment deliberation.’
Despite the recent scandals of unfair hiring of President Lee’s children’s friend, breach of trust, and bullying, the FSC faithfully performed its role as President Lee’s puppet without any sense of problem or shame. Why is an unfair FSC necessary? This FSC should be disbanded immediately.
At a time when Korea must move on from a sports powerhouse to an culturally advanced sports country, KSOC must fulfill its mission and role appropriate to the times. President Lee is heavily responsible for neglecting and ignoring his responsibilities, such as protecting the human rights of athletes and coaches, the right to learn for student athletes, the right of citizens to play sports, and fostering sports clubs. Instead of doing what he should have done properly, he has continued to make empty promises, such as sending national team athletes to Marine Corps camps, talking about mental strength. During his tenure, amateur sports in Korea have continued to decline, reaching the point where it is impossible to even form a team. This is not something that the people ask KSOC to do while giving a budget of 400 billion won. President Lee’s privatizations of KSOC are so numerous, so it is difficult to mention them all. President Lee’s reckless and arbitrary operation, which seems to have already lost his rationality as a sports administrator, has caused numerous problems, such as the privatization of organizations, and has made Korean sports a target of social criticism. Therefore, we demand the following:
One, FSC should withdraw its deliberation and disband!
One, President Lee of KSOC should admit to his arrogant management and his own misconduct and apologize!
One, President Lee who has shamed Korean sports and sports people, must resign immediately!
