'Sports Human Rights' Through Terminology
— SHRI Translated ‘Sport and Human Rights Glossary’ of the CSHR in Korean
The Sports and Human Rights Institute (SHRI) has translated and distributed the <Sport and Human Rights Glossary> from the international sports organization, the Center for Sport & Human Rights (CSHR).
The CSHR’s <Sports Human Rights Glossary> project was initiated to facilitate clear communication among various stakeholders in the sports community based on a shared understanding and responsibility. Specifically, it aims to encourage members and actors in the sports field to use terminology clearly, appropriately, and respectfully, and to reflect on the language and terminology we use and explore ways to improve and strengthen it.
The SHRI believes that the use and understanding of clear, appropriate, and respectful terminology by members and actors in the sports field in Korea is crucial for the sports human rights movement. This work was collaborated by both SHRI and CSHR. Furthermore, the work was reviewed by sports and human rights experts.
The <Sports Human Rights Glossary> contains 51 terms frequently used in the sports human rights movement. Each term is accompanied by a brief definition and explanation, alternative or related terms, and guidelines for appropriate usage. This glossary is available for download in the attached file and may be subject to additional comments and revisions based on changes in language, understanding, and usage.
