The SHRI has published a Korean translation of ‘The Right to Participate in Sports’, prepared by Alexandra Xanthaki, the United Nations Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights.
The UN Report on ‘the Right to Participate in Sports’ was submitted to the United Nations General Assembly in August 2024 pursuant to Human Rights Council Resolution 55/5. The report emphasizes that the right to participate in sports is a fundamental component of the right to participate in cultural life. It also clearly defines the obligations of States and the responsibilities of sports organizations with regard to sports rights, while presenting concrete examples of good practices that promote inclusive access to and participation in sports. The SHRI expects that this report will serve as an important reference for future discussions and policy development concerning the right to participate in sports.
Beginning with the publication of this translated report, the SHRI will also release a monthly mini-report addressing key issues in the field of sports and human rights. We appreciate your continued interest and support.
